Dahlonega Weather Forecast Update Christmas Eve — *** Colder then Freezing Rain? ***

Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Eve is upon us once again.  Thankfully the weather will feel a bit more like Christmas now that our cold front has moved through.  A reinforcing cold front arrives tonight giving us below normal temps for at least the next 5 days.  Also tonight it’s going to get quite windy and there is a very slight chance of a few snow flurries for places along and north of the spine of the Apps.  That means places like Suches, Blairsville, Blue Ridge, etc…  I wouldn’t be surprised if a few flakes made it over the mountains in our neck of the woods.  Brass Town Bald could even get a dusting out of this.  I don’t think there is a chance for this to become anything more than this though so sorry.  🙂

Any who the word on the street is the potential for some Winter weather come Thursday.  Well we do have a system to track as it has survived fantasy land and is now in the realm of possibility.  Right now all the major guidance models are showing some type of system ranging from minor event to high impact.  And unfortunately it appears the chances of ice are greater than snow with this one.  Timing and how much are still to be determined but just know that there is a system on the table that needs to be watched closely.  And you know me and my weather obsession will not be able to resist tracking this.  So expect updates at least daily on this as it’s time to monitor trends.

With that in mind here is the forecast…

Today – Christmas Eve – partly sunny with a high in the low 50s.

Tonight…becoming windy with isolated flurries possible especially along and north of the spine of the Apps.  Low in the upper 20s.

Christmas Day…sun and highly clouds and with a breezy NW wind.  High near 40.

Monday night…mostly cloudy with a low near 30.

Tuesday…partly cloudy with a high in the upper 40s.

Tuesday night…partly cloudy with a low near 30.

Wednesday…partly cloudy with a high in the upper 40s.

Wednesday night…increasing clouds with a low in the low 30s.

Thursday…cloudy with sleet and or freezing rain possible.  Temps at or below freezing.

Thursday night…cloudy with sleet or freezing rain possible.  Low in the upper 20s.

Friday…cloudy early then clearing late with freezing rain possible in the AM.  High in the upper 30s.

Don’t write this is stone yet as there are A LOT of details still to be determined regarding the threat of winter weather.  Just know there is something legitimate to track.

Thanks for reading and may God Bless you and your family and yall have a Merry Christmas!!!

Jason
