Dahlonega Weather Forecast Wednesday Quick Update

Just wanted to post a quick update about the upcoming weather.  Expect rain to move in late tonight probably around the 4-5am time frame.  This should just be light to moderate rain that lasts probably until around 9-10am.  Then it’s just scattered showers until potentially heavier rain develops early afternoon and then again potentially late evening.  There is a slight chance of some severe weather mainly in the form of strong winds as the low level jet stream about 4500 feet up will be blowing 40-50 mph.  Heavier showers can tap into those stronger winds aloft and bring them down to the surface at times.

Since this is a developing upper level low the winds will be veering with height so you can’t completely rule out the threat of an isolated tornado somewhere north of Atlanta.  Needless to say I will need to watch that carefully as things develop during the afternoon.

The heavy rain and severe threat should exit near or shortly after dark as we wait for wrap around rain showers to arrive to give a Friday that could be record cold and damp.  It’s possible we get stuck in the 40s all day long which I’m personally rooting for.  48 is our all time coldest high for the month of May and we won’t be too far from it.  I’m always like if it’s going to be cold lets break a record.  My fingers are cross for this one.  LOL.

If your looking for my weekend forecast then just search my page as I posted that yesterday.

Any who, thanks for reading and updates will flow as necessary.
