Good Wednesday morning everyone!
First off I’d like to express my annoyances with the ATL media that keeps posting these maps that show snow or single digits coming and then in the paragraph description of the map they explain how a different model shows something else. If a different model shows something else then why not post that image? Huh? This part always gets me because they know how inaccurate the models are that far out yet the images still get posted. Oh well! Did some runs of the computer models the past few days shows hints of snow? Yes. But that was only “some”. The often mentioned GFS American model runs four times a day. The morning run could show snow 7 days out while the mid afternoon run would be just the opposite with warm and rain but those warm and rain images never get posted. Hmmm….
Any who on with the discussion. An area of low pressure is sliding across the southeast today giving all this rain. I think we will end up with 1 to 1.5 inches of rain out of this before it moves out tonight. Then we get to deal with high pressure wedging down the eastern slopes of the Apps on Thursday. They should yield us a cloudy and chilly day. The wedge front will likely linger into Friday before our next weather maker arrives on Saturday. For those that like cool weather on Christmas you are in luck as a cold front will slide through Saturday night just in time to filter in colder air for Christmas. Unfortunately I don’t see any snow though. There is still time that something could change but the pattern is pretty progressive so the likelihood of that happening is lower than normal.
With that in mind here are the details…
Today (Wednesday)…RAIN…duh. YES…nailed that one! ha ha. Highs in the mid 50s.
Tonight…rain ending and a steady east wind breeze developing. Low in the mid 40s.
Thursday…mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower. High in the mid 40s.
Thursday night…mostly cloudy and possibly some fog developing. Low in the mid 40s.
Friday…mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain late. High in the low 50s.
Friday night…mostly cloudy with a chance of rain or drizzle late. Temps steady or slowly rising in the 50s.
Saturday…mostly cloudy with rain likely especially late afternoon. High in the low 60s.
Saturday night…rain ending with a low in the mid 40s.
Sunday…sun and high clouds with a high near 50.
Sunday night…mostly clear and colder. Low in the mid to upper 20s.
Monday (Christmas)…mostly sunny with a high in the low 40s.
Thanks for reading and enjoy the rain!
Jason
You nailed it. Our private FB page is full of WSB images showing snow and the lowest temps of the year. Amazing. I think they are overreacting since they missed the earlier snow forecast.
Thank you
The reason the Atlanta meteorologist do what they do, is because theyre hucksters first and meteorologist second.
Thanks for what you do for us!! I love having a local weather person instead of the Atlanta guys!!
Thanks Jason
My weather channel says different its a well see
Huh?
Your weather channel?
Oh weather channel now they add ice that week
Gotcha. I’m only talking about Christmas. That far out is fantasy land.
Lol.. I lived in the National Forest and one flake of snow or ice we are without power… big dislike lol
Without power 4 Days last time when they said will not make it to ground ..
The ATL meteorologists work for media companies and probably have certain pressure to push stories to receive viewers and webhits. Unfortunately, this means posting erroneous model pictures to “click and bait”. And media outlets wonder why public faith in the media is so low; they commercialize sensation and hysteria over news and facts.
1.74” as of 7 am!
Thank you!
Great ! No SNOW !!!! 😎
Can’t tell you how often people try to tell me what the weather forecast is based on Atlanta tv stations. I always laugh and suggest they follow you for a REAL forecast!! Just please keep doing what you do – you’re awesome and appreciated here at home!
I’ll trust your forecast over the other stuff (outside our local area) anyday
Thanks for posting. You are the only one i listen to when it comes to weather. Love your detailed explanations and accuracy. And no hysteria. Merry Christmas!
Very much appreciate your detailed forecasts for our area! Just for the new viewers I have found your forecasts to be much more accurate then the rest! And weather is probably more of an interest to me than most….I grew up in Oklahoma on a farm and spent the first 30 years of my life out there where weather is a much more significant part of your day! Just can’t shake old habits…….lol…
Merry Christmas Jason! Been following your weather forecast since Day One!
That is why i have come to totally appreciate you, Jason! Thanks for all you do
Thanks again Jason. I pay no mind to the Atl forecasters they never seem to come close to any forecast. But they are pretty good with the traffic reports lol. Anywho Merry Christmas to you and your Fam.
Come on Jason bring us some snow in here ok……
Stop that.
Come on Mike Henderson get with the program lol
I have to tell you I do not live in Dahlonega but LIVE by your weather forecasts!!! I live in Gwinnett County! My daughter does live in Dahlonega and went to school up there. I have been known to say about the evening news forecast “that’s not what the Dahlonega Weather guy said” pretty often!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! You are a blessing to us all even if we do not live in Dahlonega!
Merry Christmas Jason…thanks for the update.
….and, this is why I rely on “Dahlonega Weather” for all my weather info!!
This is why I get all my local forecasts from YOU. Good job.
I so appreciate your non-drama forecasts, you tell it like it is. 👍😀 I depend on your forecasts over any news channel. I’m disappointed there won’t be a white Christmas. 😏
Silly big city weather people 🤣 Thanks, Jason!
Only listen to your forecasts!!! You are pretty spot on and are straightforward. No hype and hysteria on the weather…very much appreciated! I personally would rather just be cold without the snow so this is perfect! Merry Christmas!!
Micah D. Goss
No worries. I only pay attention to you! Thanks!
Bringing up the Grandkids from Florida for Christmas. Love for them to see snow for the first time!

Well, as we just saw, Old Man Winter can surprise all of us. I’ll be happy to get in from work tonight without having to deal with heavy rain or fog; let Christmas take care of itself. 😉
Yay a cold Christmas!!!! Maybe we can actually have a fire this year lol
It’s suppose to be colder!!
I trust your forecasts over Atlanta anyway! 😁
Any chance of the rain being snow up on the A.T.?
Not likely in GA
