Caught the sun hitting the bottom of some virga this morning. 

December 1st marks the official beginning of Meteorological Winter.  All of our highs, lows, rain and SNOW from today through the end of February count for the Winter season.  Let’s hope for lots of what’s in this picture. 

As I alluded to in my forecast I put out a few days ago, Sunday was looking like a windy day.  We have just about arrived at that point in time and nothing has really changed in the forecast.  Expect strong winds overnight tonight and into Sunday.

This graphic by the NWS details the expected wind conditions quite nicely.  

Some healthy showers have developed along the NE border of the county.  Movement is NE but development south is possible. 

A few rogue showers have popped up in the daytime heating.  Movement is Northeast.  If you get under one it shouldn’t last long and I’m not expecting them to be widespread. 

With a high of only 42.1 we officially recorded our second coldest October high temp on record.  This applies to any day of the month.  The current record is 41 set on October 29th back in 1910.

Our high today occurred at midnight as our daytime high was only 39.8.  So if the cold front would have been a few hours earlier then we would have beaten the October record.

With an official low of 31.6 we had our first official freezing temperatures of the fall season.

It’s a frosty morning out there as we dipped to right around freezing at most locations aross the area. 

There is a nice chill in the air this morning.  Plenty of readings in the low 40s to upper 30s.
